It was always said of Eric and Ernie sharing a bed that it depicted a purely platonic relationship and merely continued the tradition of comic partners sleeping in the same bed that began almost a century ago with silent comedy's greatest duo.How fitting - Laurel & Hardy, Morecambe & Wise, Akehurst & Blears.
