Travel Expenses

Your car's ready, me ladyAs MPs' travel expenses have now been publicly declared, things have become a bit embarrassing for Diane Portillo with the revelation that she managed to run up £2,235 more in car hire and taxi fees than I did last year.

This contrasted somewhat with the claim for £230 in bicycle mileage by her former partner in the Abbott & Corbyn Roadshow ("Everywhere you go, I'm coming too"), the ex-Islington folk singer and occasional MP. Obviously not coming fast enough!

My first reaction was that, considering we both live in Hackney and lead busy lives rushing to meetings and attending the demands of our constituents, this was a bit OTT. But, on reflection, I realised that sending cars to collect son James from City of London School must have eaten up quite a lot of that. And after all you can't expect a 15-year-old to wander the streets of London on his own, can you? Drive on, James Parker.

I think it's jolly nice that Diane has got a nice car and a chauffeur called Parker and when i grow up i want to live in a hotel only one like Shilpa Shetty lives in, not one like all those horrible people in Brownswood live in on their social security and i want to have a helicopter.
