Dear Gordon

In the wake of the cash-for-honours scandal, you emphasised that cracking down on sleaze would be a priority, were you to become Britain's new Prime Minister. The other day, with that position as good as confirmed, you announced proposals for a new ministerial code to set out clear standards of behaviour for ministers. Yesterday you told the British public that you would give parliament more powers to vet and veto appointments to senior public positions in a bid to crack down on cronyism.

I actually agree with your stated position on this. So perhaps you could confirm that these allegations are untrue.

Executive Directors of The World Bank (Tom Scholar circled)

After all, it could cause the Party some discomfort were you to appoint as your Downing Street Chief Of Staff a man accused, just like his current boss Paul Wolfowitz, of abusing his position at the World Bank to assist his girlfriend to gain a promotion.

Hypocrite is a harsh word but one that, were you to proceed with this appointment, you would surely completely deserve to have applied to you.

Now the boss has quit, it's surely time for a second resignation.

Er, are we talking about the World Bank resignations here, or the rats-leaving-a-stinking-ship Hackney Council?

That's the second reference I've seen to rats deserting a ship. Which rats are we talking about here? I know no rats (well, I know a few, but they are still here).
