Last night I took Linda out to Chan's in East Ham to celebrate their winning the 2007 Hackney Groveller best Chinese restaurant in London award. As is customary on such occasions, at the end of a delicious meal the waiter presented each of us with a fortune cookie. And inside each cookie was a different, neatly folded picture of a group of smartly dressed, handsome young men. When I questioned the waiter as to who these chaps were, all he would say to me was: "Number 8, vely rucky." He repeated this mantra several times, adding: "Number 8, rucky in erection". And then he disappeared, muttering "Rankers and Burries".
Unfortunately I only attended a minor public school and thus am quite unable to translate Mandarin. So I'm still puzzled as to who these people might be. If you know what "Rankers and Burries" might mean and/or you have any idea what the significance of Number 8 might be, please do let me know.

My dearest Luke,
Is No. 2 (in the bottom picture) Huggy Cameron? I'm pretty sure he fagged for me. And pretty was the word. Ah! memories. I wonder what ever happened to him.
Yours, etc.

Don't ask me, I never even went to Brownnose College Gravesend, never mind Brasenose College Oxford.
Aaaah! Rankers and Burries. You mean wankers and bullies. It's your dreadful English pronunciation that had me fooled.
