Purgatory Exists

Not being a Roman Catholic, it never crossed my mind before that purgatory might actually exist. But I've now found out it does, after carefully checking the definition of the term.

The Holy One meets the PopePurgatory is a dogma (good start - I like dogmas) that teaches that those who die in a state of grace, but are still imperfectly purified, are assured of salvation but must undergo a purification in order to achieve the holiness necessary to enter Heaven. It is based on the belief that such people may be aided by the prayer and sufferings of the faithful and the sacrifice of the mass.

Who do I know who is dying (politically, of course), has been in a state of grace (for about 10 years) and yet remains imperfectly purified?

The clue is in the last sentence of the definition. So many of us have been praying - especially during the past few difficult weeks - and our sufferings are a small price to pay for sanctification (beatification?) of The Great One. As for the sacrifice of the masses, well as I said earlier they can just b****r off and start their own political party.

After this research, purgatory is something I'm now much more comfortable with. What I'm really worried about is the fires of hell that will be stoked in the Party as a result of tomorrow's hand-holding with Macaroon.

Where's Ruth Kelly at a time like this? Is she lurking in a cupboard? Making the tea? Or filling the incense burners?

Is this right-handed gesture an early indication that Tony was destined for beatification?
