If the Evening Standard report is true, and Brown is planning an early pull-out of British troops from Iraq - leaving George Bush to sort out his own mess - it's terrible news. I had worried that Brown might seek to recover his dismal personal popularity rating through such a piece of political opportunism and exactly this seems to be the case.
