Let's Talk About The LibDems

Now that the CLP and trade union nominations are in and the public has seen all the candidates on Newsnight and expressed its opinion on the debate, the current betting is as follows:

William HillBetfairExtrabetPaddyPowerLadbrokes
Hilary Benn5/46/46/45/46/4
Alan Johnson2/1
John Cruddas6/17/17/16/16/1
Harriet Harman6/19/17/16/17/1
Hazel Blears10/111/112/111/112/1
Peter Hain16/131/114/116/112/1

I think I'm going to give this topic a rest and talk about the LibDems and their white faces instead. After all, it doesn't look like we're going to win with Hazel. And as Margaret Thatcher once famously said: "Nobody needs a chipmunk, but everyone needs a Willie".
What we need is less prat and more willie

It has been brought to my attention that the the Hackney Labour Councillors team is almost as unrepresentative in terms of black and ethnic minority representation as the LibDem slate for the GLA. So maybe I'd best shut up about that one.

Let's not talk about the LibDems. They are even more f*****g useless than you are.

Well, actually, lets. The Lib Dems are now the only real opposition left in Hackney with the departure of Eric Ollerenshaw to Lancaster (will he resign?)

I don't think anyone could claim that the current Liberal councillors in Hackney are unrepresentative of their ward - two Orthodox Jews and a Muslim in a ward with a similar proportioned population.

Their overall slate last year was not perfectly representative by any stretch but certainly as mixed as Labour's and probably better than the Tories. A remarkable number of Danish candidates though. 4 in fact. Who would have guessed there were that many Danes in the borough?
