Council By-Election Results

Getting in just before the news of Hain's resignation:

Sandwell MBC, Newton Ward - Labour scrapes home to replace deceased Lib Dem. The Lib Dems were reportedly well in the lead before a flood of late postal votes arrived from our friends in a certain ethnic group (well done, lads, you know who you are!) We did especially well with the leaflet we distributed with the feedback survey on the reverse listing the political options as: "Labour, BNP, Conservative, Lib Dem, Other." Haha. That put the sh*ts up our postal voting friends. A clever trick we learnt from the LibDems! Serves them right.

Basingstoke & Deane DC, Baughurst Ward - Lib Dems not only seized the seat from the Tories but also removed Tory control of the Council, leaving it Tory: 30, LibDem: 16, Labour: 11, Independent: 3. One day....

Just wait for the next set of opinion polls. Labour at its lowest ebb since the 1920s.
