I've long argued that the current Labour voting constituency should remain in place, with Labour MPs & MEPs having one third of the vote, Party members having one third of the vote and trade unionists and members of other affiliate organisations having the final third of the vote.

That's a great formula and a totally democratic and fair one. And because I've worked hard and participate in lots of affiliates, it gives me several votes.

In his acceptance speech, Gordon said: "Our National Executive will now consult with members on policy forums in every constituency ... Just as we have one member one vote to choose our leaders, we propose that the final decision on the party programme will be made by one member one vote."

"One member one vote"? What the hell kind of democracy is that? I've worked hard to secure my voting cards. Coming as I do from a modest background, I'm typically aspirational. Labour may represent the poor and less well-off, but it also has to understand the sort of ambition and drive that causes a chap to work hard in order to acquire increasing influence. People who are lazy and only join their CLP or just sit on their fat a***s in their trades unions can't possibly argue for the same voting rights as me.
